The cosmopolitan capital of the Catalonia region, Barcelona once again plays host to the Spanish GP showpiece. The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya – tucked away in the municipality of Montmelo, roughly 12 miles outside of the centre – will celebrate its 30th year as the city’s home track, and in the process will continue to be one of the most recognisable, technically challenging offerings on the F1 calendar.
Barcelona as a city is extremely well frequented by tourists each year – and for good reason. It remains one of the few cities on the planet capable of offering rich heritage and elegant culture embroidered seamlessly alongside the relaxing, picturesque elements of a typical beach getaway.
Perhaps most famed for its ties to the architectural works of the legendary Gaudi, there’s no getting away from the fact that his lifelong masterpiece – La Segrada Famila – is a truly bucket-list level of monument. Still the subject of constant development work, this jaw-dropping creation is set to be completed in 2026, to mark the 100th year since the architect’s passing. With fantastic tours offered on-site, a trip to the Sagrada Famila is certain to live long in the memory of those who embark.
The race has become one of the most prominent on the racing calendar with the first competitive race being held back in 1991. Witness nail-biting thrills and awe-inspiring sights before your very eyes as drivers compete to win the coveted crown and be the champion of Spain. Races in recent years have seen Mercedes take each other out on lap one 2016, a Hamilton V Vettel dual and Max Verstappen picking up his first win in Formula 1.

Grandstand A,J, K, E, F at the end of the start straight going into corners 1 and 2 as they wind up the hill, you get cars at the highest speeds negotiating a few high speed turns. You will then see the cars coming back round down the hill in turn 7 and 8 and they compete in the next fast straight and hard braking into the sweeping corner. Barcelona has two dedicated covered stands beginning with I which Is on the last corner, this stand is in a great spot and we recommend booking early as It does have limited space. The other is Main which is opposite the pit lane, this is for those fans who want to catch all the build-up, start, pit stops and podium champagne ceremony.
Top tip – Support races Porsche and F2 get started early and we feel it’s always worth getting to the track early (9:30am) to catch all the warm up action, the young drivers in the F2 really offer some wing to wing racing for 20 laps

First time using Formula Escapes for a race weekend, and what an experience! From initial booking, then greeted at the airport by Sam and Ali to being dropped back at the airport the organisation and helpfulness of the whole team was faultless. A nice location for the hotel with daily coach transfers to and from the circuit on time with friendly drivers made the weekend so much better. The guys also had great knowledge of the circuit and advise on where to eat locally which meant a totally stress free weekend. Cannot wait to book our next escape and will recommend to anyone thinking of doing an escorted tour of a Grand Prix weekend.

Myself and my good lady had the pleasure of meeting the team for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last year. This was our first time traveling with the company and I can honestly say they were fantastic.
