Our CEO – Chris wootton
A passion for F1, connoisseur of travel and a love of his Water Dog – Ellie, you can find out more about Chris our founder on his personal instagram page. Chris worked as the Head of Commercial at one of the UK’s largest travel agencies for just under a decade prior to setting up Formula Escapes. Chris’s time in the industry earned him a wealth of knowledge and experience within the sports travel sector.

Rachel Wootton – sales & event host
Favourite GP: Monza – Being a Ferrari fan, there’s just no atmosphere like it. The passion of the Tifosi is unmatched, and the warm, sunny weather means no ponchos or umbrellas needed!
Favourite F1 Moment: Charles Leclerc winning at Monza 2024 – an unforgettable experience seeing the Tifosi go wild and the giant Ferrari flag unfurled across the track.
Neil Burtenshaw – Head of Sales
Favourite GP: Abu Dhabi – I love the incredible viewing options, world-class facilities, and how everything is conveniently close to malls and top hotels. The warm weather, fantastic food, and welcoming people make it an unforgettable experience.
Favourite F1 Moment: Being a member of the Damon Hill Official Fan Club, watching Damon Hill becoming World Champion at Suzuka in 1996 is the best moment in F1 moment for me, despite going to the two prior races in Monza and Estoril with the hope of seeing him lift the trophy there, having to watch it on TV still sufficed.

Favourite GP: Abu Dhabi – The Emiratis know how to throw an incredible season finale. Alongside thrilling racing, the A-list music line-up makes the whole weekend feel like a music festival and F1 celebration in one.
Favourite F1 Moment: Lewis Hamilton at Brazil 2021 – Despite multiple setbacks, this was the most exceptional driving performance I’ve ever seen across an entire weekend and it was to keep the championship alive. Sir Lewis was untouchable.
Nik Baines – Head of Operations
Favourite Driver: George Russell – Having followed him throughout his junior career and with his family living close to me, I’ve always rooted for him. I’m excited to see how he develops as Mercedes team leader in 2025 alongside Kimi Antonelli, who I believe will push him to new heights.
Favourite F1 Moments: The 1991 Spanish GP – Nigel Mansell and Ayrton Senna going side-by-side down the pit straight, sparks flying, inches apart – the epitome of racing respect and excitement. Also, Abu Dhabi 2021 – I was there in the North Stand when Max Verstappen made that move on Lewis Hamilton. A controversial but seismic moment in F1 history and a reminder of why being trackside is so special.

Favourite GP: Barcelona – My first live Grand Prix and in a fantastic city.
Favourite F1 Moment: Michael Schumacher winning his seventh world title.

First time using Formula Escapes for a race weekend, and what an experience! From initial booking, then greeted at the airport by Sam and Ali to being dropped back at the airport the organisation and helpfulness of the whole team was faultless. A nice location for the hotel with daily coach transfers to and from the circuit on time with friendly drivers made the weekend so much better. The guys also had great knowledge of the circuit and advise on where to eat locally which meant a totally stress free weekend. Cannot wait to book our next escape and will recommend to anyone thinking of doing an escorted tour of a Grand Prix weekend.

The roar of the engines on Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the electric atmosphere of the crowd, and the thrill of watching the world’s best drivers battle it out on track created an adrenaline-fueled experience like no other. Myself and my good lady had the pleasure of meeting the team for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last year. This was our first time traveling with the company and I can honestly say they were fantastic.
From information sent, to travel details and problem solving was brilliant.
